My WRX is still as tight as the day I brought her home. I've owned her for over three years, and modded her up to stage 4 VF34. That little tin can is still a ton of fun for me. Plus I love the look on Vette owner's faces when they stare at my rear bumper.

I might need some more mods if I'm gonna take on the mighty C6 though.

I am looking to get a VF-39 for my car this spring, hopefully than I can pretty confidently beat stock C5s through the 1/4 with a good tune.

When I was big and active in the fbody crowed everyone made fun of vette owners because the majority of posts start out with "my mechanic said". I come here you'all make fun of the fbody guys for having "inferior machines", make fun of imports, make fun of this make fun of that. You go on an import forum, and our vettes are 'lead sleds'.

I think a majority of people need to stop worrying about what some other guy drives, and just live.

I never said "only" in any of my posts. I never even bashed any type of car. I like FBody cars. I owned a '77 T/A. Only an idiot can't respect what other quality cars can do. I am new to this board, After being harassed by coastalcooter I won't recommend anyone to this forum. He attacked me just like trolls on message board across the net attack people. This is why he is blocked.

STOCK
So here is the run down on WRXs, from 02-05 the wrx was basically unchanged as far as performance goes, the car was rated at 227hp and 217lbs of torque, car and driver ran an 02 WRX in 2001 down the 1/4-mile at 14.1@96mph. That was the fastest time I have seen for a WRX in a magazine. Most people will run mid 14s at 94mph in a bone stock 02-05 WRX. Now I will move onto the 06-07 WRXs which have a larger motor from a 2.0 to a 2.5. They are rated slightly higher in hp but a good deal higher in torque. the fastest time i have seen for an 06-07 WRX bone stock was 13.6@97mph. The torque helps them get off the line better, but up top they are not much different than the 02-05 WRXs. Now on to the STI, the STI has remained pretty much unchanged from 04-07 as far as performance. Most people will run 13.4or so at 101mph in them bone stock but 12.9s@103mph have been seen in bone stock STI's.

MODDED

I have a 05 stage II wrx which consists of a catless exhaust and a accessport which reflashes the ECU, the total of those mods can be bought for $1000 new or $500 used. My best time so far was a 13.6@101mph. I have seen people go as fast as 13.3@103mph with my exact same setup. At the track I raced a C5 that i beat pretty easily, but it appeared that he let up down the track, I also ran a C5 Z06 that ran a 13.0@112mph, this race i was ahead of the Z06 up until right before the 1/8 mile when he flew by me. I know the C5 and the Z06 are both faster cars than mine but the driver mod is very important. My friend with the C5 thinks with a good launch in my wrx i could hold him off till 100mph. From a stop light to a stop light the wrx is a quick car, 0-60 it moves due to its 1.8 or faster 60-foot times.

The 06-07s in stage II form are very low 13s at 103mph or so, while a stage II STI is a mid to low 12 second car at 107mph or so. Stage II is the same price for all 3 cars around $1000 new. You can throw an STI turbo on any year wrx and break into the 12s for an additional $700 over the stage II price which would still total under 2k. I hope that information helped to understand the WRX and its potential performance a little more. The corvette is a sports car and its superior in most everything it does, but don't dismiss the wrx as a push over, a stage II wrx which most of them are since its so cheap, can even give a C5 a run for its money down the 1/4 mile, but from any rolling speed the C5 would **** all over a stage II wrx and even a Stage II STI. The wrx and the sti are amazing from a dead stop to 60-mph they are good from a dead stop through 1/4-mile, but from a roll they are nothing to brag about.

I bet your car is fun to drive. I always chose the WRX when playing racing games.

Now those were sweet cars. Too bad Toyota quit making them.

This was the most informative response. Thanks alot. Now I can understand some of the mystery behind the WRX STi. Is there a way of determing what stage a WRX car is using by looking inside the engine bay? From what you are saying, it sounds like my neighbor has a stage two.

You're right, you fit right in here, I don't. If you look for it, you'll find plenty of others here to stroke your ego and agree with you and look down on others. The only one I've judged here is you, and it was solely based on what came out of your mouth.

i love my vette, i also love my benz. i still love the vette more.

some of my favorite stupid idiot lines that crack me up:

"only the best for my baby"
"if you listen hard enough you can hear a mustang rust"
"you got beat, but it doesn't matter you've got a vette"
"who cares, he's stuck with an ugly import box"

and so on.........

i think there's alot to respect about alot of cars.

Don't forget,

"When I get my C4 running..."

or

"yeah so you beat my Corvette in a straight line, but let's take to a road course and see who wins" (coming from a guy who has zero track experience.)

We should write a book.

THere is actually no way to tell, it just reflashes your stock ECU and you can have a stock catback exhaust and still be stage II so the car will look and sound bone stock, the only way you could tell is if you looked behind the turbo under the hood to see if a nice shiney downpipe was there, but even that doesn't tell you if it just has a downpipe or its stage II, but every stage II wrx/STI will have a downpipe, its the only mod you need to flash it to stage II.
