388 LT4 Goes BOOM at 8000 RPM !!! Warning to all....

OK.. So to me the most telling statement was "and it hadn't even really been tuned yet".
You're out screwing around at 8k on the street in an un-tuned motor. Hate to say it but you were asking for it. Hope that $20k dent in your wallet doesn't hurt too much.

Sorry guys but the motor was only driven a little untuned. No wot just home from the shoppe. And it wasn't untuned in that respect, it had a base table from a 383 LT1 forum member who was generous enough to share his Accel dfi tables with me. When I did get the wideband in the tables were'nt far off from what they needed to be.
8000 rpm + beehives = a sound that is beautiful
it also = 128.7 mph in the quarter mile the way it is driven every day with a 19' street tire, the stiffest suspension possible and slammed to the ground with a heavy sound system and full tank of gas. this thing is the farthest from a drag car that is possible. So to me that is impressive.
a bad valve job with a loose rocker nut.. possibly = boom.
Anyhow the only info/update Slalom i posted in another post above. I feel kinda dumb having 2 posts going but I pulled a plug and saw some dmg.

How did you end up running a solid roller with beehives? What the heck kinda beehives were they?
I've done plenty of solid roller motors, and they all take duals with dampers.
