'86 Idle problem

Default '86 Idle problem

I recently changed the thermostat in my '86 and now it idles at 1300 RPM and Im stumped....What could I have done wrong?

Sounds like you may have knocked a vacuum line off. Check around the intake for loose vacuum lines. A simple test is to spray a little carb cleaner in the area that you were working on and see if the idle speed changes at all. If it does, then it's a vacuum leak.

Look at the bottom of TB on drivers side. There is a vacuum line that comes from there and goes to EGR relay(bolted to thermo housing). From there, a vacuum line heads to EGR diapragm. Maybe you broke one of those lines.

well I did what you said and there doesnt seem to be any type of vaccum leak...any other suggestions? Please help!!

Swapping a t-stat shouldn't change the idle. I think you need to recheck your work. Did you take the throttle body off to change the t-stat? Disconnect any sensors in that area?
