The coolant lines are simple, you've got 2 radiator hoses: One on top running into the thermostat housing and one down below running to the water pump. If you've got an oil cooler, there will be two more lines. One coming out of the driver's side block that runs to the the part where the oil filter screws in. Then one coming out of that part running back towards the front of the engine compartment. There is a U-shaped hose running from the front of the intake manifold to the throttle body. There is also one coming out of the other side of the throttle body off to some metal lines on the passenger side. I'm not 100% where these metal lines go to, but that pretty much covers all the rubber ones.

As far as vacuum lines go, there is a diagram on the driver's side of the of the radiator shield.

if you get ride of the air pump then your car can not pump air into the exhaust for lower emissions. I know of 2 air lines that go to the exhaust manifolds, and another that goes directly to the main cataletic converter. Just remove them and plug the ends. But I would take pictures, or notes in case you want to put them back one day.

Sounds like a guy who has no business working on these cars. Should be playing with a set of Lego's instead your motor. Hope you did not pay this guy a lot of money. Any mechanic who's worth a damn would have some type of organized/systematic layout of how things need to go back on. Specially if it's their first time working on a car like this.

Seriously though, it's kinda hard to say over the internet how every line under the hood goes. And the vacuum diagram on the hood shroud does not show the physical location/routing of all vacuum lines.

Best thing to do is get the GM shop manual, or find another L98 vette in your area to take a look at.
