Default Timing chain problem: HELP!!!!!

Ok, I'm at wits end getting this timing chain and it's holding up everything else I'm doing here......

I have received THREE different timing chains from TWO different companies.

Two from Summit and one from Jegs.

The Summit numbers were: Cloy's 9-1100 and a summit G-6601.

The Jegs was a cloys 9-3145.

NONE OF THESE PARTS FIT!!!

The problem is that the holes on the cam are too far apart and the gear will not screw to the cam.

Can anyone tell me WTF I need to order?

The cam is a lingenfelter 74219.

After the first one was wrong, I had their "tech support" help me since the webiste wasn't clear. This way I can yell and bitch and get free overnight shipping.

Says "will not fit on factory roller cam"

I looked it up on Lingenfelter's web site and it says they recommend using a Cloyes 9-9100 with your cam. You do have the 74219 Cam?

Lingenfelter Camshafts L98, LT1, LT4 1987 - 1996 TPI - Hydraulic Roller 219/219 .560/.560 HR112

Yep. that's the cam. Thanks. Lingenfelter's website sucks too. See what I mean, you came up with the 3100, and lingenfelter is saying 9100.

You sitting down? $450.

No way in hell I'm spending $450 on a timing set. I'll put the factory back on first.

Typical Lingenfelter.

Well thats what it recommends. I honestly dont know what the difference is between and LT1 and a late L98 timing set. These pics might help...

9-3145

9-9100

9-3145

9-9100
The gears for the opti. That won't fit the L98.

OK, so now we're through two more numbers that won't fit!!!

Ok I think I may have found the solution, I looked up Cloyes sets for your year. They have sets with different distances for the holes which you said is your problem...

Cloyes 9-3145-10
Original true roller timing set, includes cam sprocket, 3 keyway crank sprocket, true roller chain, with factory roller cam, .010" reduced center distance

Measure how far the holes are off, they've got several different sets like this.

They have another one thats a roller chain for aftermarket cams, Cloyes 9-1157. It costs a bit more $54.

I am looking at Cloyes site, and it looks like the "reduced center" is between the sprockets and not the holes that bolt onto the cam.

I will check the 1157.

The 1157 has the wrong attaching mechanism. There's a keyway instead of three bolts.

After checking out Cloyes website, I still come up with 9-3100. 1955 and up SB 350's EXCEPT FACTORY ROLLER CAM.

Corvette has a factory roller cam, and the new cam has the same exact spacing. The old sprocket fits the new cam, so they are the same.

If the old sprocket fits then why dont the stock replacement ones work?

The original timing set is a C-3064K

What's that big extra gear for in front? It has nothing to do with a chain.
