I really like my custom made 2 piece torque arm. It's held up great after much abuse.
I don't split all the gears under normal use. It's just too much messing around pushing the button all the time and trying to time it with manually shifting the th400. I do a fair bit of autocrossing. The gv is great for giving me half a gear jump in areas on a coarse where I don't have enough room to the next cone for a full gear change. I also use the GV around town if I'm cruising and want a bit more gear but not a full one up. I'm very old and don't have to be clutching all the time so I like this setup in that respect.
Would I do it again? I don't think so. I wish I had even a higher ratio for highway cruising and the .78-1 final is just not enough. I'd go ZF-6 if I was you. Even the 4l60e is only .70-1 isn't it?
