As far as safety, I think that pretty much sums it up.

There will always be two camps of corvette ownership...the NCRS crowd...National Corvette Restorers Society and the NCRS crowd...the Not Correctly Restored Society...

Some are purists and that is fine...some like to tinker with their cars which is fine also...to me it boils down to what you are using your vette for...if you just take it out to cruise in's , lunch's, car show's, etc. then stock is good for you...if you race the car you will most likely be modding it to suit your race venue...many believe that's what vette's are for....racing...

You clearly bought purely based on price..you knew it was modded...bitching about it now is like marrying a fat lady and then complaining about the grocery bill...

Bwwwaaaa hah haha. What a great joke....for about 2 seconds I felt sorry for the razzing from other members, but then this is the c4 tech/performance forum...not the resto forum....let the razzing begin. Then I saw a "different strokes for different folks comment" and thought....hmm...what's the ratio? I looked and there are currently 121 people viewing this forum and 3 in the resto section. Wax on-Wax off.

what about all the rest of us who couldn't give a hoot about cruise-ins or racing...........just dislike stock performance? everyday driver. i suspect we're a actually a majority. you don't have to race to know the base C4 is underpowered and requires fixing, and must yank the heads, cam, intake and exhaust (L98) just to get to adequate everyday driving pleasure.

i'd kill to buy an all-out modded car. paying nickles on the dollar, i doesn't get any better than that. i can't find them, everybody seems to have the ***** stock version.

ok guys
modded out is fine but HACKED up is a different story and i think this car was HACKED(but it is fast and i love driving it) if you think a dryer vent hose is ok for a ram air intake then you don't need to be working on cars--i see why you would build a motor for a 1984 or a 1990 but the 94 came stk with 300hp WHAT MORE DOES A MAN NEED???(if your not raceing)

Too much is never enough. i'd bring a thermonuclear WMD(always wanted to use WMD in a sentence)to a knifefight in a heartbeat Just because more is better doesn't make too much enough.

Default Learning from Dr. Phil

One day while flipping through the Channels - Dr. Phil Blasts out of the TV and says:
"80% of all questions are really statements in disguise"

Thats what got this thread started - someone wanted to brag about what a great deal they got and how fast their car was!

BTW - if you really think it's close to 500 hp - and I sincerely doubt that it is, but if it is - it should top out right around 200 mph. Why not take it to the track and find out
- instead of trying to break your arm with back door self complements

- as well as endangering others when you do something as stupid as taking a car onto the open road at anywhere near that speed - and a car that you know very little about to boot.

Why not prep it properly and take it to Maxon, or the Texas mile - or Sand hills shoot out, or el mirage, or Bonneville, or any of the Silverstate races! That way when you make a claim of speed - you have an official timing slip to back it up! and nobody elses life was at risk!

Why mess with a stock car? I cant speak for everyone, but its just our nature to compete. It happens in all phases of our lives, not just corvettes. Think about it.
As for 300 hp being plenty for the street, you are probably correct. It was an impressive number in 94. Compared to todays new models, its lagging far behind.
A greenwood package? See there you go modding your car to make it appear better than stock. Standing out, competeing for attention. Your opinion. Myself I want my car to appear completely stock, and run like a bat out of Hell, MI.
I also cant figure out why you would buy such a modded engine and complain about it. You should have done your homework,

Quote: REMBER ITS A CORVETTE AND ALWAYS WILL BE the c4 may be almost worthless now but sooner or later they will come around

Again, your opinion. Mine is a little different. Not in my lifetime. It was a great car, but it had too long of a run. Buy em, enjoy em, mod em, drive em, but dont hold your breath too long about recouping your investment. I was at the Barret-Jackson event this past week, C 4 prices just cannot be considered collectible. Maybe a few models such as the ZR-1 or the GS, and a couple of Indy pace car models will bring something back as an investment. But until then.....

i agree, thats always been my idea of a corvette -- fully stock body lines, interior & exterior -- and a badazz engine under the hood (whatever your sense of "badazz" is -- budgets always shortchange what you really want to do). there should be no exceptions. those who say, well you can't compare today to yesterday -- poppycock, i say there's no choice -- you're driving it today aren't you? then you have to "fix" it for today's enviornment......otherwise you'll just have to shake you head at your stock car and give up.

With the exception of a few tweaks to the interior, the style of the C4 is perfect for me. The performance leaves something to be desired - engine is weak and the brakes are OK. I've fixed the brakes with J55s and Hawk pads but I still have a ways to go with the engine.

400hp is about the bare minimum for a sports cars these days. The 383/SuperRam combo (365rwhp) in Dad's 86 is just about as low as I would want to go.

Personally, I dont want a collector car. If I had a collector car, I would go insane and it would always be stored in the garage. I would be afraid to drive it. That's one of the reasons I prefer late C3's and early C4's. There not really collectible and therefore you dont feel bad modding them. You can drive em, race em and enjoy em. Late C3's and C4's sold in big numbers. Therefore there not unique. Modding them allows you to really make them unique. Your Vette truly becomes your Vette. If you want to invest money, dont invest in cars! I have no intention of selling my vette. Im going to take the ultimate decision as to what performance mods I really want and need to go along with my body mods. To me, she's a keeper and Im going to drive her, beat her and take care of her for many years. I say (and this is just my personal opinion) mod your vette, drive your vette, enjoy your vette and get the most out of it as you can. The vette is supposed to be about good times! Enjoy life! Enjoy your Vette! Do what the heck you want with it. I think the only Vettes you really want to keep stock are brand new or very recent ones. Or maybe C1's, C2's and very early C3's. The province where I live is far from perfect but one thing that is cool and touch wood when I say this, there are no emissions and no safety inspections that one must pass. So youre free to mod any car like you want. Lets just say that catalytic coverters are not very popular in Quebec...
