i cant understand why people try to make there car faster than it was stock this is my 4 vette i did 2 frame offs and gave that up, then in 1999 picked up a 1994 vette that was stock that car would fly i took it up to 147 mph no prob and i felt safe now i have this new 1994 vert that has a cam headers and who knows what else ya its VERY FAST(burn rubber through 2nd gear)and sounds great but i just dont trust it after some one messed with it so do you feel the same after work has been done or is it just me being picky

I would say that it depends on what was done to the car and who did the work.
Different strokes for different folks.
Some people would rather trade off reliability for performance and some people would rather have reliability. Depending on what is done to the car i believe you can have both but it might cost more.
After reading your post though, I can't help but ask why you bought a car that has been modified if your not comfortable driving a modified car?
its a 1994 convertible that i think is saveable and i got it for $6500.00
it has 77000 miles i have already repainted it-put the stk wheels and new rubber on scrubed the inside and now the oil leaks are being fixed
next is the greenwood c-4r package and it WILL be very nice BUT IT HAS BEEN MESSED WITH

I think that's a good price for a 94 convertible with those miles.
i understand why you bought it.
Stock or messed with, I think we are all taking chances buying used cars unless we know the entire history.
If regular maintenance wasn't kept up or if it was raced regularly for years i would be a lot more worried than I would be because someone swapped the heads and cam.
The work could have been done properly and the car could have been babied.
I would not look at simple bolt-ons as being a great detriment to reliability. You are not going to do damage to your car by adding headers. By doing the simple bolt-ons, you can increase the efficiency of the engine. You're not creating power from nothing you are freeing it up.
I cannot see myself leaving a car stock, especially a car I bought for fun, to enjoy. A car built from the factory is a compromise between requirements, cost and power. It's built for the masses, modifying the car makes it personal.
1974 1980 1994 1994 vert the 1980 was the nicest
im not sure why im so worried about this car it runs flawlessley and is a blast to drive maybe after the guy gets done fixing the oil leaks i will feel better-
I can totally understand why you wouldn't want to buy a car somebody else had messed with, because there is a large variation across skill levels regarding DIY performance tuners.
However, I can't imagine why anybody would want to NOT upgrade the performance of their own Corvette, if they wanted a faster car and if they were comfortable with their skills, tools, and workspace. This is especially true with C4 Corvettes. These aren't rare, exclusive cars that are going to take a huge drop in value if they're modded. In fact, they're actually pretty cheap, which is why they're so attractive as a track car. They're like the fox-body 5.0 Mustangs were 10 years ago. You can buy one cheap, install the safety equipment, wheel/tire/brake/exhaust/suspension upgrades and hit the track, all without worrying about de-valuing the car.

Sorry, but you are complaining about the fact that the previous owner installed a cam and headers, but you only paid 6500 for the car w/ 77K on it? And it's a vert? If you are so into originality, then why is the world are you putting one of those butt ugly Greenwood kits on the car? The great thing about these cars is that they are easy to work on, so have the cam and headers removed and call it a day.
I still don't understand how someone who loves Corvettes could put one of those kits on their cars. They just ruin the appearance, IMHO.
you know it probley would not bother me so much if it dident leak so much oil -if the guy who did this work would have done it rite it wouldent leak(hey if you cant put gaskets on rite you shouldent be in there),can't wait to see whats in side??? there is alot of rvt out here
BY THE WAY I KINDA LIKE THEE GREENWOOD KITS
