maybe you remember last, when a clacking noise started in my engine..
anyways, today i found a piece of junk in the oil bore from a lifter....
i inspected carefully, and found more junk in the oil passages of the block...
now i know, why...
in the GMPP block, the oil pump feed line is straight up to the oil pressure sending unit...and..this line should be plugged aprrox 1.5 inches deep in the bore...guess, what the engine builder forgot..exactly this plug..so, the uncleaned oil went straight to all bearings, not the filter.....
I'll bet he says even the space shuttle crashes once in a while.
My buddy had his engine builder tell him that.
Lucky he had me and my buddy around,We built him a new motor.

i would say, you win the bet...
its 3 years ago, that he assembled the short block (mainly to see, if the cam clears), i have driven only about 3000 miles, due my lack of time..
i brought the crank to a machine shop, it seems, that the minor scratches can be polished...
With All of the many motors I've built (years of working at a machine shop...) I put together a nice little SBC for a friend once, for use in his '69 Z-28. Nothing too expensive, but nice. Forgot that darn plug (after hot-tanking the core block) during the build. The thing lasted about a week before toasting the bearings - he was Not happy. At least it was a friends deal, not a paying customer. You can bet that I haven't forgotten that darn little plug ever again
good news...the machine shop called me today, the scratches was so minor, they polished them out, and the crank is fine again..will order the other parts tomorrow, and i hope, i´m on the road again in about 2 weeks...
