Default What Distributor Gear?
Hi all,

I've got a 1985 flat tappet block that I'm putting a Comp Cams 306 LT1 camshaft in, with retro lifters etc... What I want to know is what Distributor gear should I use for this cam? Will I even need to change it?

Comp cams don't list a gear for this cam as its for an LT1.

I'm running an F-body Distributor with external coil.

Your going to need a melonized gear to work with the roller cam..

I thought that looked cheap enough and when I checked shipping at only $7.95 to england I was very chuffed. Will bookmark that site for sure...

this doesn't fit!

The I.D of the gear is bigger than the O.D of the Distributor was this for HEI only? I need one for a classic style, external coil distributor.

The 1987 and latter F-body distributer has a smaller shaft and it is an external coil. I cannot garrantee that it will fit your distributer bacause I do not know what you have, but I believe the shaft size is .427.

any idea where I can find a Melonized gear for that distibutor? it is a 87-on distributor your right.

Look up a part number for a 1987 or later 5.7 TPI Camaro. You should be able to get one at the local GM dealer or at least the part #.
