Did you ask how much before you authorized the job? No, well it's all on you.
did you actually read this before you quoted it? The main point of my original post was to warn anyone else that lives in this area to not use this shop.

Yeah, I read it. You didn't say you got a quote so why all the pissing and moaning.
Ok, lot of opinions here. There are a lot of prices for starters, new rebuilt and from different distributers but $97 sounds OK and is probably is a rebuilt. I have no problem with that but get a guarantee for the part.
But $300, no matter how you cut the apple, sounds excessive for a starter replacement.
The few times, for what ever reasons I had to take something in the GM dealer over the last 20 years, I always got an estimate or exact price and knew what it was going to cost. If you agree, then there is not argument. If you don’t know that is bad business on behalf of the two parties but the dealership should have gave you a price for good will and a legitimate operation.

Depends. If the wire was so fried that the second they bumped it that it fell apart, well, not the shops problem. Which happens to be a lot of cars I've worked on, either the connector or wire or both were garbage to the knock sensor.
I'm not sure what the deal is with the estimate vs bill. If there was additional things on the bill, I'd have asked what they were. If they gave him a written estimate before hand it should be a clear difference. My guess is he's just complaining about the price and didn't get a written estimate before the work was started. I say suck it up.
You know, most of you appreciate the original purpose of this thread, which was to let people that live in this area or that may be in the area for some reason to not use this shop.
Now, I wrote my op while I was somewhat aggravated, I guessing most people have had there moments were they have been screwed around and it didn't make them happy, I chose to share mine in hopes that it may help someone else to not have a similar experience at this particular shop. I know I sure as hell would have been happy to have this knowledge before I went to this shop.
I could have sworn that this forum was here to do, precisely that, help people.
As a side note, the $102 was their mistake and has been rectified to anyone who was wondering. To the people with the criticizing remarks, no one needs that, next time why don't you try some restraint instead of being an ***.
