Default hesitation problem

It has only happened twice, but the second time was worse. When I started out from a light, the car hesitated for a second and lacked power for about a second the took off. The second time it last about 4 seconds and the car backfired or stumbled bad and then slowly regained power. Other than that the car runs good, with a slight miss( car was running rich and I need to replace the plugs), anybody got any ideas?
There are no codes and I was thinking the ICM my be going south or maybe the opti.

Default hesitation/cut out

Randy-

My 92 did what may be the same thing recently. Car runs great, recently had to replace ECM, it wasn't "seeing" the right O2 sensor, failed emissions...but that was in May, its ok now after I changed it. But...about a month ago, decided to let it stretch its legs and gave it WOT running up a highway entrance ramp. Halfway up, engine dies. I was stunned first, then aware that I was on a highway entrance ramp with no shoulder lane, so neutral, and coast for a bit, key off, five seconds later went to start it, started ok, ran fine all the wau home, but didn't get on the throttle.

Drove it a few times since, no incidents, but I'm real easy on the gas pedal. Yesterday, from stop sign in middle of nowhere, drove on, then gave it about 60-75% throttle. Choked up and died. Again, coast a bit, key off, then key on, start, runs fine. Drove it about 30 milers last night, but never got on throttle again.

Does that sound like yours? Mine's a 92 LT-1

Scan tool, only thing really odd was IAT showint 141 degrees for over 15 minutes, then dropped to 90 degrees and held steady. That in my garage that was NOT 90 degrees. I'm in central Texas...it was 101 outside and the garage was in the sun, and the A/C in the car was on. So that sensor is suspect. I was looking for an odd display on TPS when I ran from off pedal to full throttle position, but it was ok.

Your sure you had a decent amount of gas in the tank? That stuff can slosh around under hard acceleration or tight turn and the pump can suck air. Don't rule out the simple stuff like oil and gas levels.
Check your fuel pump pressure....and maybe ohm those injectors coils.

Good Luck!

Mine does not die.

No, it was a straight take off and light acceleration.

hesitation is getting much worse, it bogs down and sputters for about 100 ft and then takes right off. Also, I am noticing a fuel smell in the exhaust. But I am getting around 28 mpg at 55 and I just replaced my injectors a month ago w/Bosch III's. It is also hard to start now and I still need to put heated O2 on pass. side(have LT's).

Ohm them so your sure it´s not them (boschIII´s). If it´s not them you´re a step further at least and cost you 5/10 min.
