Default Long story short

Had my 88 in the paint shop the entire month of August. Took it out last weekend all shiny and sweet when a van swerved into my lane, forced me into a turn lane and I was launched airborne over a cement island.

The body sustained no damage but the undercarriage took a beating, all 4 wheels are bent and my head went through the plexi glass top. Finally got a look at the undercarriage today. Man these cars are stouter then I thought. Front suspension is fine except for the upper shock mounts. They're slightly bent but repairable. The rear took the brunt of it all.
Here's my immediate problem: I need to find the rear lower shock mounting bolt which has been discontinued, a passengers side headlight assembly, the electrical connector for the AC compressor got crushed and drivers side mirror guts. Insurance allowed $1800.00 for the chrome OEM wheels but I can get 4 new chrome Z06 wheels for a little over a grand. They allowed $1200.00 for the roof but I can get mine refurbed for $800.00.
Any help on locating these oddball parts, and any more the dealer may find would be appreciated.

I saw that island and just grabbed the wheel with both hands, puckered up and prayed......

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
Should be able to get the parts you need from some of the vette salvage companies.

That sucks dude.....I had a similar thing happen to me while I was driving a Monte Carlo: While going ~45mph when another car ran a light and T boned me on the right side and forced me into the 8" concrete median divider....the car went airborne.....came down on the other side into on coming traffic were a head -on collision ensued. There was definately a pucker factor. The whole event took about 3 seconds. Be glad you walked away from yours...with just car damage.

Hardware store. A grade 8 bolt, nylon nut and washer is all you need.
Or call Corvette salvage if you want the original bolt.

A long time ago I bought my first Corvette, a black '65 coupe, off the older brother of a friend. The first week I had it, I was coming to a traffic light in the rain, when the car started to slide to the right. I over reacted and pulled the wheel to the left, which caused the the car to spin, and go backwards over the 4' high cement wall, landing on top, w/ one wheel on each side. Only damage was a blown tire and bent trailing arm.
To say I was lucky (as you were) is an understatement. I remember sitting there w/ the radio on and no other sound, wondering what had happened.

BTW, did you hurt your head on the roof? Sounds painful.

Good luck

Randy

I just picked up a set of polished a-molds and tires (mounted balanced and shipped to my door) for $1,143.00.
AFS on e-bay had them. Very pleased. Check with them before dropping your cash on rims. You may be able to put a few bucks back in your pocket.

I am near certain they have the wheels and tires you are looking for. They are similar money to what mine ran.
I am still thrilled with my purchase. Locks, lugs, chrome valve stems, center caps were all included. True bolt on and go.
