Default vats question

Want to eliminate vats from my 1993 (early 1993)--i know about the harness that by-passes the key, but to completely do away with vats, is there another thing to do such as replace or by-pass the actual vats module itself ? If so where is this module located or can it just be flashed to remove vats ?

You may want to take a look a the "vats sucks" site (not sure of the exact www name do a search) lots of info there it will give you a better ideal of what is involved.

VATS lives in the CCM module. The bypass only bypasses the key resistor (pellet) function which still connects back to the CCM and the VATS circuit. I don’t think you can flash the CCM or change its function since it is an imbedded part of the system operation.

To actual eliminate it, it would involve changes to several circuits and systems in the car. I am capable of doing much of that work myself but in my opinion I think it is easier to make the system work properly as it was designed to.

don't know if this will help but I got a chip from PCMforless and it completely eliminated the vats on my 88 vette. No more problems with not starting when I need it to start. My ecm was located under passenger dash panel. Not sure if this will help on your newer vette
