Default 94 passive keyless entry system help

Good Evening, I have a 94 vette and the passive keyless system use to work with the fob until last week. I have checked the battery in the fob and that is good, I have checked all related fuses, all good. I tried the below direction on matching the fob again, (see below) but I can not get the passive light to come on, so figure the system is off, but do not know what to try to get it back on??? I am clueless at this point and would appreciate any ideals or suggestions.
tks Don

Matching Transmitter(s) To Your Vehicle

To match transmitters to your vehicle:
1. Move all transmitters out of range.
2. Turn the ignition key on.
3. Push TRIP OD0 on the Driver Information Center twice.
4. Within five seconds, press and hold FUEL INFO
until the PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light comes on.
5. Turn the ignition off, but leave the key in the ignition.
The PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light should begin to flash to show
the system is in programming mode.
6. Bring one transmitter into range. The light will stop flashing and
stay on to show that the code is stored.
7. Move the transmitter out of range. The light should start
flashing again.
8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 with each additional transmitter.

The programming mode will shut off if:

You don’t program any transmitters for two minutes.
You take the key out of the ignition or turn the ignition on.
You have programmed three transmitters.

The PKE module is more than likely out. It is located inside the dash behind the driver info center and is a pita to change. I had the same problem with my '94, replaced it once and when it happened again, gave up.

tks, can you adivise how much the pke module costs??? I have take out the vents above the dic, wonder if I can get to it from there or have to fully take out the dic????
also is there a test or something I can do to ensure that it is the module.
tks, Don

Simple question, but have you checked the fuse? I'm looking at the '94 FSM right now and that's one of the front line items in the troubleshooting flowchart. Do you have the FSM?

Here's another: Radio Fuse also provides power to the PKE receiver. So apparently if either of those fuses are blown the PKE lamp will not illuminate.

It's been several years since I messed with it, so I don't remember the price. Unfortunately, the module is behind the dash plastic so removing the dic doesn't actually give you access to it. You need to either remove the dash or you can remove the dic and vents and cut the plastic out to access it.

You would need to go through the procedures in the manual to check it for sure.

You would probably know if you put the PKE into sleep mode. The PKE light comes on for 2 seconds which is a self test. Chances are if the light is not coming on the PKE module is defective. If the PKE lamp burned out the system would still be operative but don’t believe that’s your case. If the PKE light will not come on when you try to go into programming mode, this is another indication the PKE is bad.

The biggest external problem to the PKE is the contact in the key switch. But this would not affect the 2 second test when the ignition key is turned to on. Plus if the contact was bad it would still work but would not be able to program.

They can cost $100 to $300 depending if new or used and where you but them. The top pad on the dash has to come off the gain access. There are no good shortcuts and it will take you a day if you have never done it before. Also there is a progression of order of what comes off first to get access to the next set of screws and panels. If you are to aggressive on a 14 year old car the plastic can break real easy, be careful and using the FSM is the best way to go.

To activate/deactivate the system..hold down the door button for at least 5 secs & see if the locks cycle. If they do you shud be ok. If they don't you have other issues.

Let us know what happens. There are some diagnostics for the system that might help pinpoint the problem.

Try a new battery.

TKS FOR ALL THE HELP, I tried the 3 fuses again, all were good, I held down the door button but nothing happened, at this point figure it is the pk module behind the dash, so, looks like a summer project.
again, many tks for all the hlep.

Shot in the dark:
Did you try more than one key fob? Could be the fob has the problem.
