I installed a D44 in my 86 auto. I've noticed that it seems not to roll so easy on occasion. I thought at first the new gears were tight, but it seems to be worse backing up...
How do I adjust it? I never use it, so just loosening it would make me happy(and easier to push in the staging lanes)...
The parking brake was draging on my car at one point...I ended up grinding off 1/8" the eccentric cam (on each caliper) on the end that does the pad striking. My parking brake still works....but it doesn't drag. Many people just disconnect the P brake...when it becomes problematic.
I had to tighten my to pass PA inspection. Jack it up and remove the wheel. Turn the rotor until the hole in the face aligns with the star adjuster on the e-brake and turn it with a small flathead screwdriver. That may not be the "official" way, but it worked for me.

It could be the cables too.
On our 94, I had to replace all 3 cables (driver side rear was so badly rusted it didn't move and fried the brake pad, and the main cable was very very tight -- r&r'd the passenger side just because)..
So, check to see if the internal cable moves easily within the housing of each cable, just in case...
