Default A/C leak ?

I converted over to 134 and I replaced all o-rings I could get to and I have a leak. Tried Stop leak and all the leak detectors and I cannot find the leak.

Was talking to a guy and he told me this is a common problem after converting and then told me what to get and I proceeded to forget what he told me to get.

Anybody know of something that is better then stop leak?

Your best bet is to find the leak. Some autoparts stores sell a freon dye kit that comes with a light and glasses. You inject the stuff into the system, then put on the glasses and use the hand held light (black light I think) to look for leaks. I've used one these kits (not on a vette) and it worked pretty well.

I just fixed my a/c which had been dead for at least 10 years. I converted to 134a and ended up finding quite a few leaks. I ended up replacing the condenser but I still had a leak in my evaporater. I used a can of stop leak for metal. there are 2 links of stop leak made one for o-rings and one for metal. the metal one did the trick, I forget the exact name but is made by interdynamics in a small red can that comes with a fill tube I think it was about $23 at my local o'riley.

Evaporator leaks are difficult to find, so if you haven't, pay (if they even charge you) a shop to stick an Electronic Leak Detector in the case (pull the Blower Module or Resistor Pod). Condensors aren't much easier, but some have side/bottom access or you can remove the shroud.

For info on Stop Leak and what shops do to find leaks: http://www.autoacforum.com/macs/sealer.pdf - Not too many DYI's are going to invest in this stuff, so if the price is reasonable, I'd pay a few bucks to end the frustration.

Sometimes you can find leaks by dirt and compressor oil by looking at all the points where parts and hoses are bolted together. It will leave a residue.
