Looks good and you're half way there. I used the stock AC box as a template and .047 or .062 sheet alluminum will work good. Once it's done you won't regret it, working on it will become a joy instead of a nightmare.
I saved every original part from mine with the idea of "you never know".....the reality is, after having done all the mods I will never go back

You need to seal up all those open fittings on the ac parts so that if you ever decide to reuse them or even sell them they won't be contaminated. The moisture in the air is bad for a/c innards.
I would try to find some plastic caps to put over the ends and then put everything in plastic bags. At the very least fold everything up as tight as you can in trash bags before tucking it away.
