OK, this is a big shout out to all of you who helped out on the various threads I had established during my L98 top end build, maybe these thread will help another member do a similar job. Hadn't done this type job in about 20 years, "felt like riding a bike!"
Finished with the rocker issue and got it back onto the road and it seem good. I'm not ready to totally lay my foot into it yet but I did hit hard once just to about 3400 or so in first and I think there is where the 1.6 rockers and the 2 1/2 Y-pipe along wiht the new injectors really show. Sadly I had just driven my 04 Z06 the night before so I was thinking maybe it would be a bit more but overall I think it's good.
I took about as much care as I can during this process to clean and "restore" the look of the engine so I've included a before and after
So thanks to you all again, this is what the forum is all about for me. I always try to answer as many questions objectively the way folks have helped me on this project.
Now for a look at the A/C system and some driving!
Looks like you did a good job.
What kind of injectors did you use? Did you repaint the intake/valve covers, or have them powder coated?
Again, looks like a good job.

The injectors are from Jon at FIC, they are Bosch III's
As for the finish on the parts I didn't powder coat, decided to save the money. I used Duplicolor cast aluminum for most things, and aluminum high heat on the exhaust manifolds and Y-pipe. When I painted the manifolds I used a heat gun to heat the parts after painting to try to bake things a bit, but hey have already bubbled just a bit after the first hour o running. The valve covers are the same but tons of prep goes into those and they still are only OK in my opinion, the picture is pretty favorable to the covers! I tried to paint anything that I thought look bad and would give a new look upon completing, even gave the EGV one quick coat!
I still may swap out the covers if I find a deal on something I like and I want to get some new spark plug looms the secure better. Also plan now that the basics are done that I' like a true expert on tuning the L98 to get ti as good as possible, so if anyone has suggestion in the Atlanta area that would be great.
Looks really good. Don't forget to close your throttle cable clip mounted on the plenum.
Yep, one of the worst things on these older engines is all the clips that over time just give up. This one doesn't want to stay closed, I'll have to give it some help.
Also want to get a better set of looms for the wires.
Is there any real "break-in" to consider with a top end rebuild? The only truly new parts are roller rockers and valve seals. I've been hesitant to put my foot in it yet, but that could be since having a rocker loosen up and having to crack it open, I'm looking forward to a break from wrenching!

OK, well took the car up to wash it down and took the longer route home, spun it up to about 4000-4300 or so. It definitely has has more grunt, not pasted to the seat but after all it still a 350 with just the 1.6 RR upgrade and a bit of exhaust. But just as important not a new sound on the ride home! So maybe I'm past my rocker issues.
I might think about having a local muffler shop weld in a cross tube on the rear Y-pipe as the sound is now a bit of that droaning.
