Default Budget rotating assembly

I am looking to keep my entire rotating assembly under $1000. 750 would be better for me.

I would like to hear which components you would and why. (bang for you buck brands) Also, where to skimp and where not to.

I would like a short block that I can feel ok about spinning 5500-6500 fairly often.

350ci vs. 383ci I am still debating

the size you choose 383 or 350, will change the price of the rotating assembly. heres some ones from summit, eagle is a good brand and a lot of people use it.

It depends what kind of pistons you want too. If you want forged (i think these are the best for running boost, don't quote me) or the Hypereutectic. Forged is a little more expensive.

383 - http://summitracing.com/parts/ESP-B13405E030/

350 - http://summitracing.com/parts/ESP-B13402E000/

There are other brands that make them, like summit makes their own kit. I don't know about quality or anything, nor have i heard of anyone using one. Its probably good though, summit sells good stuff.

I would try to buy a balance assembly. Some of the kits have all the parts but you have to get the balancing done. That can add to the cost.

How much horsepower are you going for? Any NOS? all of those will affect the selection of parts. I used SCAT for my rotating assembly.

Except they never are. They are close, but always seem to need tweaking. I now buy unbalanced, and pay my guy to balance them. Same money in the long run, and I know it is right.
