FYI the total surface area of the 3 cones used on the SLP system virtually identical to the stock filter....at least on my 1996
so in reality it couldn't offer any more performance then the stock air cleaner setup. more a visual gimmic the a performance product. Now than has anyone ever tested these to see if any outflow the stock setup?
As you can see in the pictures, I am having another issue in regards to bolting on the 58MM Holley TB to the TPIS Miniram.
I took off the stock lower TB piece, and bolted it on the Holley unit. The issue now is that the pipe is rubbing up against the waterneck and I can't bolt up the TB.
For the record this is the TPIS waterneck, and not an aftermarket one.
Anyone else experience this issue? Any ideas what to do?
The instructions on the MRII clearly detail that the water crossover portion of the lower TB plate is to be cut off of the IAC motor portion, and only the IAC portion bolted back onto the TB for the MRII. You are not planning to route coolant through the TB anyways.

I took off the factory airbox tonight to see what I have to work with, and it isn't much.
I can't believe how small the factory box is.......
I was also thinking that the TB now sits lower with the Miniram, because the intake it's self sits lower then the stock TPI. I hope this wont be an issue with air flow. Maybe I am looking into this too much.
Anyways. I "might" be able to get a piece fabricated out of aluminum that will connect the TB to the factory airbox if I decide to go that route.

In the interest of keeping the air cold it would be better if you could figure a way to use plastic, rubber or similiar "insulating" material
Size fo the airbox should be fine, supplies plenty to the much smaller openings in the TB.
If youre going to make somethign out of aluminum why not make the opening on the opposite side, cut into the shroud and use a sealer with two single sided tape? You can get somethign like that from Home Deopt in the window section, a roll is like $10 and comes in different widths.
From your links, I never tried the middle one.. I had the breathless junk and so did my friend.. Quality just is not there..
the TPiS Box was Killer, I used that until I swapped to the 90-later radiator mount.. if you do the later mounting you have a few more options.. and a bit more space
Coupling was a headache with MAF and the early style Rad. mount

Rick see if the Doc has a ZR1 box laying around, take it to a metal faricator and tell him you want it duped in aluminum but wiht the filter side faced down. Bet its under 400....even if it was it would be a trick piece. Even paint it black for stealth when youre done

The Doc will be visiting on Friday with the 415 LT5. I am hoping to take it off his car, and see how it fit's my car.
Ron, I have come this far with the project. Might is well get something that works right?
if you need a custom coupler,go buy a piece of foam(the hard stuff like people stick fake flowers in)and shave and mold it down to what you need..then get some fiberglass and resin and make it yourself..once it dries just punch the foam out and you have a custom piece, something to think about anyways..good luck
