Something other that fiberglass perhaps?
Maybe they had to do some work there and left it in primer.. The shape of those lights is diff then ours *shrug*
Shamdave need to get some and let us know.. have you painted it yet Sham?

Hows the Fiat mod coming? Anybody have any idea on how to go about getting the Fiat lights to work with existing hardware? What would need to be switched out? It's obviously not going to all fit together right?

If you are doing the headlight mod I wouldn't paint the hood yet. You might have to do some work around the lights.

Going from memory you are right on the money.
I remember being on some forum when I came across him doing this.
I do think I remeber the grey area on the hood being primer from him doing glass work to fill the gaps.

there was some page that had the whole thing layed out. I cant find it, and I would guess it was back in 2002.

sorry for those of you who had questions for me. I haven't checked this thread in a while.

I think the "cheapest" part about this swap is the headlights themselves... the hood will need to be re-painted (or blended into the rest of the hood). I've done a lot of glass work and I know that I can get these to mount perfectly, but if you don't want to do the glass work youself than you better figure some money for the labor and material for a shop to do it.

the bracing shouldn't be a big deal, you can even use SMC panel adhesive (more like a two-part epoxy) from a number of vendors (Lord Fuzor, 3M, Evercoat) to attach alluminum brackets to the bottom of the corvette hood so that you can utilize the existing mounting brackets for the headlights themselves. if you want to get really detailed you can even glass over the brackets with SMC resin and fiberglass cloth.

Just for a point of reference, a lot of the "import" shops here in the valley (AZ) do a lot of incredible mix-and-match work. I know of a few that actually do top-dollar work too!

for those of you in or near Chicago, look up www.v8archie.com

he does a lot of fiero stuff, but any of this custom fiberglass work is right up his alley. Extremely talented crew there.

Neat looking.

I'd consider it if I was building and endurance racer.

This is great. Mine are on the way. I'm sure I will need more parts than just the headlights. But I will figure this out. And btw, shipping is outrageous!

Not nearly as much as those "other" fixed lights for a C4. If anybody is interested in snagging a pair let me know. Found another seller who's selling a used pair from the UK. Don't know what other equipment it will take but I will figure the rest out when they arrive.
