Sup everyone, I posted this in the scan and tune section but no replies. I recently rebuilt my 383 in my 86. Installed everything back in the car hooked everything up. Cranked it up it for 30 secs or so then shut it off to put the rest of the accessorys etc on and fill it with water. cranked it later that night to show my dad and it back fired and died. couldnt get it to crank back. the rotor in the distributor cap came loose and got caught up on the housing and tore it up. replaced it the cap seemed fine. Got everything back together and it will crank up for a sec and shut off. I hook my scan tool up and i get code 34 code 14 and 15 i beleive. My scan tool is a OTC and it has a datastream function. With the engine switched off all of the data read outs on the otc screen were like spinning. The MAF RPM LV8 and all sorts of readings are just going up and down, without the engine even running! The TPS voltage will not move no matter the throttle position. When i crank it, it runs for like 1-2secs and just shuts off. no response at all to the throttle.
Anyways, I need help with this, seems weird and I have very little knowledge of the electronics on this thing. To me it sounds like a bad ground or bad ecm. I am open to suggestions though.
The two indicators of a bad ecm (that I have heard) are no code 12 (SES lite blink) when key is turned to the on position along with the fan turning on as soon as the key goes to the on position.

I am reading codes with a otc scan tool. Fan comes on but I think it is related to the code 14/15 (my connector on that sensor is hosed up)
Fix the problem at the coolant sensor, 14 or 15 will cause it to run like crap.
Then move forward.
Know were I can get a new connector? I want to replace it and the connector on the IAC, its pretty hosed up too. I guess plastic gets brittle after 20+ years
Any chance it could br Fuel pump relay, Had the same problem , Would run for 1-2 secs then die, Swapped FPR & has ran great since...
Just trying to help..
Ant,,,
I dunno, I can hear the pump. Ill put a FP gauge on and and look at it while it is running, I know without it running it pumps the rail up to 45 psi. I have a hour or so to play with it today ima dig somemore and see what I can find.
