dash cluster / tachometer
I have an 84 vette, i just purchased a used dash cluster. I installed the cluster and all the lights worked except the blinkers and the Hazard light. I also noticed the tachometer going crazy. without moving it was at about 60 . when moving it seem to read correct. But the strangest thing was the car started missing badly and backfiring. I unplugged the cluster and all was fine again. Could it be a bad cluster. I am going to check the wires at the distributor tomorrow. Also i have heard because the blinkers and hazards are not working thats, a sign of a bad cluster. HELP!!!!

Looking at my 86 schematic, the turn signals/hazard lights are just bulbs with direct input from signal/hazard switches and a ground. You should be able to test the bulbs and inputs from harness.

Replaced the cluster with a working cluster. Now the cluster is fine but i am still getting backfire after 15 minutes of driving. Once the backfireing starts i put the car in neutral wait untill the tach goes to 5000 rpms then back in drive and all is fine for another 10 to 15 minutes. I think it has something to do with the tach wires comming from the distributor.
I let my son use the car for a day and now the car will not start. No fuel to the injectors!help. Turned key on i could hear the fuel pump(2 seconds) but will not start - no fuel to the injectors. Going to try a fuel relay first.

Thank youi Engle1147 you were 100% correct. I did buy a fuel relay but it did not do the trick. I took the dist cap off and one of the wires leading to the pick up coil was damaged. repaired the wire and all is fine.
