The question is, is it better to use a complete engine gasket set for a complete engine build? If so, what recommendations for the complete set. btw, this will be for a 383 setup and all of the parts are basically stock except for mods like being ported or performance application in general (in other words generic may not be good enough).
Or, is it better to just find and buy individual gaskets for each item? I already have head gaskets but I need all the rest.
Since head gaskets are probably the most expensive and since you already have them, then my thinking is "why buy a kit and end up paying twice for the most expensive gaskets and ones you don't need?".
So I'd go with buying the ones I need individually.
Looking on Summit they have partial sets that don't include head gaskets but also don't include intake gaskets among others. I may have to go with one of these kits and then just buy individuals that are left out.
Nobody has commented on a specific brand that may be better or maybe one to stay away from. Anybody have any experience there?
