Well, I own a 1992 Corvette auto with 90,000 miles on it. At stoplights in drive, after its warmed up, it would stumble a bit ever since I got it. I figured it wasn't normal but my dad's yukon with 175,000 miles has done it for years so didnt worry too much about it. But today I got caught in a light rain, the road wasnt really wet, it was just a very light rain. My car all of a sudden started to miss. I parked it and turned it off. turned it back on and ran fine (by this time the rain had stopped). Then if I would get in and out of the gas it would sputter or miss or something. When I was getting home (sun shining) the car acted normal. The car also threw no service engine light or anything. The only time this has happened before was about a month ago, When it was extremely windy and I was going up a steep mountain road. Any help will be appreciated
You'll have to pull the codes for the opti.
They can also be messed up and take months to throw a code and lite the service eng. light.
If the plug wires are old, they can cause these problems, moisture can inhance these problems.
Start it up in a dark garage at night and look for arching especially where the coil wire goes from the opti, under the waterpump, to the coil.
Several things can cause your problem. But if the cap of the opti is going bad it is not going to throw a code because spark is not monitored. Low and high resolution pulses are monitored and there's a code for them.
The opti could very well act up with several different symptoms and never throw a code. If after checking several different items and all look good, if you really feel it's an opti problem replacement if the best way to find out. I would look for any sparking wires that could cause problems similar to a opti.
