On alt case once taken apart I used some 8" blue scotchbrite type wheels they look like buffs but they arent. just stack a few on there. Need some 220+- cart. rolls to get in the corners you cant reach too..
Used some compound with it and it took the pieces down smoothe and had a decent shine. From there used a buff with the green compound then a losser buff with the white. Its not perfect but acceptable ran out of patience after screwing with a water pump and PS housing and every other damn piece on the car.

I'm telling you, Ron, TarHeels says green and white are the SAME thing. Maybe you're just following white with....WHITE? (But, doing a damn good job of it, I might say!)
Brown is supposed to be the pre-step stick for white, but I never liked brown. Black is more aggressive but I like it better. (Kinda speaks to the patience thing. ) Oh yeah...I started using black when I started on the intake base. Those things are a ROYAL PITA.
FWIW, I should mention that polishing needs to be done with multiple passes IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. Because metal doesn't have a grain, you are able to "pull" fine scratches out of the aluminum. I'm pretty sure Cuisy will agree with that.
