It's just another thread about headers. Not a "86 but the same people make them for your car.

I have hedmans on my 86. Never had an issue. Do you want them? I'm going turbo.

Are they painted or coated? Will they work on my '96 LT-4? How much?

drjimmy, i would like to see pics of the headers. PM Me.

If Vettme doesn't take them I am interested.

@Vettme: I just looked at summit, all the hedman headers are for 84-91 vettes. I am not sure if they can be adapted some way or if some simple mods can be done to make them fit

I have Hedman Elites on my 86. I put aluminum reflective tape on the box, where the header gets close. No problems. There is not a lot of room over there, so finding another brand that doesn't get near the box, is going to be tough, I would think.

Are you Hedmans, coated or painted ?

I've had Hedmans on my 86 for a couple of years now with no problems. Maybe your car is running lean and causing the headers to get to hot.

I was breaking in cam. Started to Smoke in car thru vents. Airbox melting. Breaking in causes excessive heat in headers. That why you dont break in with Ceramic or good headers at first. I had to kill engine so no fire. I am taking headers out. Gonna try to figure out something. It is simply to close 1/2 inch is to close to plastic I have no clue how these engineers laid out this car engine compartment. They must have been drunk.
