I used all stainless steel for mine and got them at a local fastener company that just sells nuts/bolts/etc. I wouldn't stray from the allen head bolts. The tool you need is an allen ball end socket. They have them that are around 6" long so they will reach down in there. Make sure you get bolts the length of the ones you currently have. As stated make sure the mating surfaces of the runner and head are not damaged, if they are you'll play hell getting it to seal up again. If they are Ok a trick I used on motorcycle gaskets was to soak them in oil before I put them back on. This would make them swell up so they would fill in all the voids when installed. Also when taking it back apart they wouldn't stick to the surfaces. Some here use vaseline for the same purpose. Personally I think the oil penetrates the gasket better an has a higher heat tolerance. I used this method on my SR and have not had any vacumn leaks.

Hope this helps

Well I def. can not even see the bolts on the bottom. I think I'm goin to just take valve covers off...not happy about it but I don't know where to get that tool in a hurry...I assume sears, etc don't carry that? Even so the covers look really tall...I have 1.6 roller rockers...that tool would still be able to get in there? This gives me an excuse to get different valve covers I'm thinkin something black with some red in it...any suggestions?? I passed on some LPE covers a couple months ago cuz they were in Canada and seller didn't know if they would fit with 1.6rr.

At this point the car will be down all summer

If you have a ball nose T-wrench you never have to remove a rocker arm..... see the link below, that is the type of T-wrench you want to buy, except get a set with a ball-nose..... the ball nose allows you to go at the bolt from a variety of angles making it "easy" to take your runners off....... and they are long enough as T-wrenches to easily get into them.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002KAE1TE/...SIN=B002KAE1TE

You can get a set of these for $ 30 or so at your local Sears.

Also, going out of memory, I believe you get a runner bolt or two from the backside of the runner.... not the side that you are facing it. If you do not know about those bolts and remove them, you'll never get the runner off.

It is much easier to remove and install the Superram than some might think.... just have the right tools and know a few things on the assembly......PM me when you get ready to re-install, I'll give you a few tips on things that worked for me.

good luck !

Hey Beach, I think someone informed SnakeCharmer of the backwards facing bolts.

Valve covers off... just won't need to remove a rocker arm. (Rocker covers... yes!)

I just can't see how you could get to those lower bolts without taking off the valve covers. I have stock covers with a little taller gasket. I modified my RR's to fit under the stock cover. I can barely get a mirror between the cover and the runner to see where the bolt head is located. Now take a universal on any type of extension ....just can't figure out how you can get to the bolt.

Take the covers off and I can see that a long "T" handle could fit between the rockers to get to the bolt. Think I will build my own with some round stock and a little welding . for next time.

Valve covers definitely have to come off. I remove 2 rockers on each side because it's hard to get the ball socket allen around my fat Crane rockers.

I lifted up the long plastic wire harness between intake, and valve covers, and the allen wrench then can slide in at the right angle, I should have mentioned that earlier, sorry.

Again I just took an old allen wrench, and bent it straight, and trimmed it to fit in a small socket. I did not ever try a T handle.

I'll take a pic if I can find it.

I made them.
Never got them mounted on there right, such as removing the original.

They are just a stock l-98 fender. I cut out the front louver, curved the front Corners with a sanding roll drum, and threw a piece of aluminum tubbing down the center.

Built up the depth with some fiberglass and bondo with more sanding, and put some mesh behind it. Nothing to hard really.

But with fatty roller rockers I think the rotation of the motor must have to be right because sometimes they don't need to be removed and other times it can take a lot of finaggling to get to the bolts... I have accomplished it out of pure stubbornness before...

Got the pass. side cover off yesterday. Then I stopped. I didn't even try the T-Handle as I know I'm going to have to remove the rockers but I will try it just in case.

Why did I start this project??

They should, and if they don't like the stock one, just trime the drip tabs off inside.
