The rockers are not the only clearance issue. I tried talls on mine but they interfered with the wiper controller. They angled in at the top but they were still too close. I used a cheap set of stock height aluminum covers from Summit. No clearance problems.
My LPE 74211 cam lifts the 1.6 RR to .562 for the exhaust. I am using stock 85 valve covers with the drip tabs cut off and ground flush with the covers. I also use a little taller gasket. The exhaust rockers were just kissing the VC (no issue with the intake). So I did this:
I sanded off 1/8" off the top edge of the RR. The picture shows the RR wrapped in masking take so when I sanded the edge I didn't get any particles into the bearings. These clear the VC without a problem now. No adverse effect to the RR's.
I got the intake off today...hoooooray! The T-handle did help for the bottom bolts..I only took one rocker off, 6 exhaust was in the way. I marked it at the 12 o clock position and counted how many turns (11.5) till it came off...I hope by doin this I can just retighten that many so I don't have adjust them.
I got a email back about the valve covers, he said they would work with roller tips but not full roller rockers?? I dont understand that honestly. I took a pic and sent it to him for a def. answer. I would like to get new ones but don't want to modify anything or devote more time.
Thanks to everyone also for all the info. Supplied in this thread.

If it is the #6 rocker arms you need to remove, it is really easy to adjust them. Find #1 TDC (timing mark on 0 and #1 cylinder intake and exhaust valves closed. Turn the crankshaft 1 full turn (360 degrees until you are back on TDC. This will place the motor at #6 TDC. Tighten the nut until there is no more play in the pushrod and tighten the nut another (whatever the specs are for your lifters). This will be a lot more accurate than counting 11.5 turns.

He is probably not sure of the roller rockers locking bolt which sticks up a lot higher then standar rockers.
After sending the pic of the rocker, he is saying they will fit but to use a thick Felpro gasket. Part #1648 which are $35.00 according to him. I have not priced them yet.
I looked on my build sheet from LPE. Just says 1.6 ration stainless steel roller rockers. No specific one. Don't know if I should chance it or not. I think they would look niiiiicceeee!
383vett: you are correct, why take a short cut now.
What intake gasket is everyone using? I got felpro part # 1204 and the middle is blocked off. The old gaskets were blocked off in the rear and in my service manual it says the blocked openings should be in the front. So now I'm really stumped!
I also did find where the suspected oil leak was...passenger side about 1/2 inch in from head on the back of intake.
I use the 1205 Felpro gaskets. My ports are a little larger than stock. I don't run an egr so I don't need the middle opening. Can't remember about the water openings.

As long as the ports are all open to the same holes as the heads, and manifold you are ok.
i got scared with mine 2 weeks ago too. i seen they wre different than my old.
I don't know why I would have put gaskets on that have the rear passage blocked if there aren't suppose to be? Lookin at the bottom of the intake the middle are blocked so I think the felpro 1204 are correct....I think

mine were fine, i just had to think about it, and look at the intake for a second.
I'm gonna use the 1204's. I got alot of cleaning up done today but still have a long ways to go.
I got a call back from Proform today, rep. said those covers will fit but I will have to adjust the baffles a bit. He stated I have the pro mag rockers which I didn't know. I guess I'm going to pull the trigger.
As for removing roller rockers, if you don't touch the lock screw, you can remove and replace rockers without worrying about preload, as long as the original rocker and adjuster nut are returned to their original stud.
When I was using the stock covers with my wide body rockers, I had to squish the baffle with a pair of channel locks, to clear the sides of rockers.

This is not a 100% foolproof way of replacing rockers. When loosening or tightening the adjusting nut, the setscrew can move in relation to the nut which could result in an incorrectly adjusted rocker. I would take the time to readjust the rocker.
