I purchased a 1985 Corvette w/o motor and trans, bought both and rebuilt them and installed into car. Had a real time getting all the wiring corrected(the harness in the car was not marked), When I started the car it was hard to start(I understand there is a learning curve for the computer to set itself) and when I throttle-up the car falls flat and won't accelerate. I rebuilt the distributor, checked all the injectors, all the vaccum lines, installed a reman computer and still no luck. I haven't changed the prom yet, I've never really heard of them going back, but the old computer and prom came with the car so I don't know if they were operable to begin with. I was told to disconnect the tach, if the cluster is bad it can effect the way the motor runs, didn't help. I used a snap-on brick to check the sensors(tps-o2-temp), all seem to be ok. I disconnect the distributor single wire to time the engine, set the timing, when I connect the wire the engine does not respond. I've run out of answers, has anyone come across a problem like this. I am open for any input to get this car to run right.

Reason: omitted something important
Does the scanner bring up any codes? It sounds like the car is in limp home mode. If the ecm is not receiving a signal from all the sensors, it can go into this mode.
Thanks for the quick responses. The only code that is set is when I unplug the wire to time the engine. Brand new exhaust/cat front to back, and fuel pressure is @ 35-40psi. I drained and cleaned the tank before I fired the car up and installed a new pump. I have tried to see if there is a vaccum leak, but still have not found on. I was told to check the IAC on the throttle body, It might be staying open, will try to check this weekend. I wanted to put the car back to stock, but if this keeps up I might have to go old school and install a carb and headers. Once again thanks for the responses.
P.S. how does the pass side lower dash come apart, the mice have made a nest and I need to remove and clean the case out and install a new core. The car sat at the 2nd owners house for 2 years before I bought it.
