Default Knock sensor, would you run it with THIS setup?

Getting closer to the point where I will have to burn a chip. I really dont want to install the knock sensor if not needed. I removed all emmisions and ac.
90 l98 six speed vert

Here are my mods and future plan. Its a new engine installing it now.

388 Dart SHP splayed, forged pistons rods crank 9:1 comp

AFR 195s with 1.6 rr 7/16 stud

Comp 280xfi
http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=209&sb=0

Superram ported with ported base to match, 30lbs injectors for now. (breakin period)

TPIS 58mm t/b

EM headers 1 3/4" 3" dual exhaust with xpipe to a set of stage one flowmaster.

Canton 7qt 250t with melling select 10%

MSD ignition/boost controller with the *** to adjust retard.

I am going to break it in this summer and then hopefully put on 15lbs of boost with a D1 supercharger with meth injection in the winter.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Walt

Also a pic some pics for you guys

Mahle pistons are very grey in color. I found it strange.

Test fitting intake.

Why disable something whose sole purpose is to prevent your engine from going poof? With a proper tune, disabling the knock sensor will have zero impact.

FWIW, mine are enabled...

383
lighweight crank
lightweight rods
AFR 195 Competition Eliminator heads
~11:1 compression
cam with 230/236 duration & .622/.624 lift
EM full length headers
bullet cats
lighweight flywheel
slightly north of 500hp at the crank

...and it passed the tail pipe emissions test

I will keep it. I broke the plug while taking it out. Is the plug vette specific of other chevys of that year? Also if I buy a new knock should I go for a GM or aftermarket?

The knock sensors are different between 85-89 and 90-91.
If your system is a mass air , get one for the early cars, if your using a map sensor, get one for a 90-91. But I'd make sre it was for your application....ie, corvette. You don't know what your chip is calibrated for, and if part of the calibration is the tuning of the knock sensor itself..

oh, by the way, push your tool box drawers in before it falls over..................

I will make sure I get the right one. Thanks for the different years.

As far as the drawers go, I like to live on the edge.

Default Knock Sensor test?

Is there some sort of continuity test to tell if the sensor is good or not? I have a 92 LT-1.

There may be a continuity test but someone else will have to cover that..If you can hook up to a scanner you can tap on the exhaust with a wrench and see if you get knock counts. If you do get knock counts the sensor is working , if you don't.....WW

it should work fine...but I would tweak on the knock attack rate, increase recovery time, lower the totals of degrees to retard for both pe and c.l. and increase rpm and mph for enabling..

For my bracket car, I have run for years without a knock sensor. I'm not sure why, but my car would pick up false knock and retard the timing 13+ degrees and would not recover until the run was over. Needless to say, when you run a tenth slower than your dial in, the race is lost. I knew this was false knock because without the knock sensor, the afr I monitored was good, plugs good with no signs of detonation, conservative timing with race gas. Even running 116 leaded made no difference in knock. Also when I have my motor freshened up every year or two, there are no signs of detonation. Sometimes a combination of forged pistons, agressive camshaft, open exhaust headers and whatever will create false knock. For a street car, leave it on, especially if you are running a blower.
