just got the rocker panels back from the shop. The yellow paint was stripped from the lip and painted with Chipguard flat black paint. There is a small piece of reinforcement bar in there held together by rivets. The PO used big *** screws to replace the rivets. I went to use my rivet tool and it jambed and after I tried to take it apart to fix it, screwed everything up. Went and bought a new rivet tool, and will rivet the pieces together as they were meant to be. Also ended up sanding the bolts, spray painting them black and cured them in my oven before installing them. Why cant people just leave everything original?

I went to harbor freight to buy a cheap rivet tool. I only had to rivet 3 points on the rocker panel. Guess what. The tool jambs. Going to buy a real rivet tool Monday and hopefully there going on then.

Looks great, Jon. Nice work.

Remember that the upper screws are unpainted stainless steel.

[QUOTE=kenmohr;1575941000 This is from an 89 as it came from the factory. Hope it helps.

This is not paint but the bare material itself. The nicks are the same color as the un-nicked[/QUOTE]

On my '90, the "lip" is unpainted black plastic. Stone chips, etc. on the white, painted section have exposed the rocker panels to be entirely black plastic. They're pretty ugly--white with black freckles!

BTW--Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
