Default Fuse Panel

When I pulled the courtesy light fuse outa the panel, a brass part pulled out with it. I cant seem to get it back in. I removed the dash parts to see behind it and the deal doesnt have a wire attached to it as far as I can tell. Is it a clip to hold the fuse and nothing else? It doesnt look like I can unattach the fuse panel and get to see anything more than I can see now. Any tricks there?

Thanks!

We need a better description of the part that came off or even better, a picture of it.

Finally got a pic of the brass tang hanging out of the panel. It looks like one side of the clip that would hold the fuse, maybe the part that doesnt actually hold the wire but pushes the fuse against it. I am working on some other electrical issues and would like to resolve this. The PDLs are tied into this interior lighting circuit and I need it powered up. Sorry thie pic aint better.

Since I cant seem to get power thru the fuse I am thinking of adding an inline fuse to the wiring to bypass the fuse panel. I will add length to the wires clipped at the fuse panel to bring the fuse to some point that will be accessible and leave enough wire at the back of the fuse panel to fix it if a solution presents.

That will work.
That looks one of the contact socket tabs that should have remained in the fuse block....but it looks like the fuse fused to it and yanked the tab out when the fuse came out.

You might try to cut a little off the end of the yanked out tab and try to fold it back over so if looks and works like normal.

That might be one of those piggy backs that wrap around the fuse and then allow you to attach a wire with a crimped female connector onto it

Jon maybe right here. I looked really close at the fuse mounts and the brass piece sticking out seems to be extra. The clips that hold the fuse in place are all there. I kinda pushed it to the side and stuck in a fuse and the lights came on...........now they wont go off. In an '85 what besides the two door switches and the hatch switch govern the lights turning off?
