Hard Starting
Hi,
My 92 LT1 has been displaying some hesitation when starting like the battery is low.
I also noticed starting today the digital dash flashed "SYS" or 5Y5 then going back to normal display of mpg or coolant temp.
I just replaced the battery.
Any suggestions?

Is it hard to start (cranks normal speed), or does it turn over slowly?
The SYS can indicate a bad battery or low charge on a battery. If it turns over slow and indicates SYS, it can be a battery related problem.
Is your alternator charging properly at about 14 volts as indicated on your spedo when you punch it up with the gauges button?
SYS can also indicate there is a code. You might check that out also.
Jumping ahead a bit. If it cranks normally and just won't start quickly. The FPR (fuel pressure regulator) can be bad and flooding the engine thru the vacuum line. In that case it usually hard to start after couple hours or overnight. But it usually will start right back up if shut down for less than 30 minutes (+/-) or so.
