94 no start
I managed to get it home. I noticed some bits of catalytic converter at the tips.
I ordered some random technologies cats and put them in.
noticed some oil around the front of the motor and decided to change the timing cover gasket. got into that job and noticed the vacum line to the MSD Optispark had melted from the oil and oil was in my Opti again!!! About my fifth or sixth Opti/replace/clean/change.
I should have known the problem would be there!!!
So now I have changed ;
1) 2 Catalytic converters.
2) 3 oxygen sensors.
3) timing cover gasket,pan gasket
4) oil temp sensor
5) oil level sensor
6) water temp sensor
7) valve cover gaskets
8) fuel filter
9) oil and oil filter
10) coolant
11) sent opti to MSD to be cleaned out
So everything reassembled, turned the key and..................no start!!
Checked spark and it's good.
Looks like it's not getting fuel,it just cranks and cranks, no smoke, nothing
Any clues?????
I can't remember if I could hear the fuel pump before,I definatly don't hear one now.
Thanks in advance,Rick
I did'nt force it on , it seemed to go in easily.
I also changed the spark plugs and spark plug wires.
I shot some starting fluid in the intake and cranked it over this afternoon and nothing.
It did however kick backwards a little after I stopped cranking.
I checked the shrader valve for fuel and some shot out.
Pull the opti once again?????
I wish I had an LS motor!!!!!

The opti bolts should only hold the opti in place. It should go on with a tink as it contacts the timing cover and be flush.
Since there is spark, opti, PCM, ICM and coil are all working. More than likely it out of time.
Install opti but don’t put water pump on. Make sure engine starts and runs first. Just put the MAF back on. You can stretch the wires and connect the temp sensor in the WP. Then when all is good finish the job.
