Or Talk to Gunny, 1963 SS.

He stated tonight he is familiar with road race engines.

I don't know of anyone that will guarantee a race engine after it leaves their shop.

A few guarantee their machine work to be dead on.
Such as my friend Steve S.

And its dead on.
I have checked always with him.
Down to the 1/10,000 of an inch,

He does it for me.

Intake gasket is a likely suspect.

Did you chase the threads before installing the bolts? If not you may be getting a false torque reading.

Did you use sealent on the intake gasket itself..Your suppose to put sealant around the water passages on the intake, then use the proper torque sequence starting from the center to lay the gasket out properly..Your also suppose to take the bolts down small increaments at a time going around the sequence 3 times, not torque them directly to 35 pounds..WW

while i have time i wanted to restate the goal of this post its not about me ....its about trying to find a engine builing company that we as cf members can send members with less experience to..to get a quality build tune combonation.. like east coast supercharging can do for c5ers
doug and chriss woulnt work on lt1s they keep there buisness limmited to there feild of experice ls motors respectable..i know victory racing engines build alot of lt1s but they dont tune or have a tunner they work with or atleast they didnt.. this could be a big oppertunity for a good comany...with how many motors c4ers build......

no ididnt there wasnt any mention of that in the directions with the gaskets other than to seal the front and back walls nor did i see any sealant on the old gaskets if it took the intake off what would i look for???i did do the tourque thing right though....

Ditto on no warranty for race stuff.
Even Joe Sherman says the warranty is 30 ft or as long as it takes you to load it on your truck. His are all dyno tuned and run though, thats the only way he does it to make sure all is right. Makes sense though.

If youre lucky they may "stand behind" it to a point...my machinist offered free teardown/inspection/labor and his cost on parts. Issues werent even his fault but ifyou appoach them right they maaaaay help out. Upgraded to a fairly stout stroker for $2400 inc custom cam cant complain.
or not.

New or not I would run a thread chaser through them. It's probably not your problem but it is good practice.
