I have a 1989 corvette starts when cold runs good if I shut it off have to wait a hour or more before it will start again.Changed fuel filter, fuel pump, distriber cap, modular, roter, and tried another computer.Stell have same problem.
Help,

Get a hold of an Ohm Meter and check the ohm resistance on each fuel injector. They should be 16.0 +/- .5 My guess is you have at least one (likely more) that aren’t. Then call Jon at FIC and order a new set of injectors… Problem solved!

Fuel pressure regulator diaphragm is probably shot. Replace regulator and try again.
Does it crank, but not fire? Do you hear the fuel pump before you try the restart? What does the starter do?
BTW, welcome to the forum!
If you had come here earlier we could have saved you from buying all that stuff.
Pictures of the car are always a requirement.
yes it turns over but will not start, if you wait about 1.5 hr. it will start and run fine,I even shut off as soon as it started and would not start again until you wait
Thanks,

I suggest pulling the error codes to see if any are present.
If you have access to a scan tool, check the data from the ECM to see what's up.
It has been checked and has no codes a G.M. machnic checked and can not figure it out he specilized in electronic for a local dealer. And he is stumped.

John240,
If he checked everything out and is a GM specialist what did he say the ohm reading on each injector?... If he can't tell you that he didn't check everything out. My guess is if it starts after cooling and runs fine, but won't restart after warm you have a couple bad injectors and not getting a fuel/run signal to the ECM. "pear"

Will the engine fire when you depress the gas pedal to the floor?
Our corvette runs fine, but after about an hour, it shuts down. We believe it to be the computer and purchased a new one to replace the old. Unfortunately, we do not know where it is located. Can someone help?
You have a common problem. The spark module inside the distributor causes a weak spark when it gets hot and is ok when it cools off. You can prove this to yourself by checking for weak spark when it won't restart. Unplug a spark plug and bring a grounded wire close to the boot while someone does a short crank. Good spark will be a snappy at least 1/2" spark. My money is on a weak spark. Replace the spark module.
Everything on thread has been checked and still will not start. If you start engine when cold it starts wright up turn off as soon as it starts then shut off ,only run a few seconds will not start second time till it stands for a while. HELP

OK, then lets go to page one of every fix your car manual ever printed.
Engines require spark, spark at the right time, hot spark, fuel and air and in the correct ratio, and cylinder compression in order to start and continue running. One or more of these vital things are missing. Check for stored error codes. You need to use your timing light while cranking to see if you have spark and correct timing (you claim you checked for hot spark). Measure the fuel pressure, it should be 35-42 psi and it should hold up for at least 1/2 hr after the ign is off or you have leaky fuel injector/s or a defective check valve in the fuel pressure regulator. Spray some starting fluid into the intake and see if it will start and if it does, you have a fuel delivery problem. Unplug the MAF and see if it will start. Use a noid light to see if your injectors are being pulsed during cranking. Finally, measure cylinder compression. Good luck.
My first inclination was the spark module also. But looks like it was changed, is that true?
I don’t think enough data has been taken. As JFB indicated in his last post there are lots of things can be checked and a few tests can be performed to gain additional information.
Did anyone check the FPR vacuum line for fuel. Those year cars are known to have bad injectors regardless of what the resistance of the coils are. I think that is another good bet.
Something is missing or at the very least is marginal.
