Looking at the pictures there is no doubt in my mind that the collectors on the Dyno Don headers are way better than those on the Hooker headers. That alone will be a big improvement.
You can see in the pictures where the exhaust pipe was cut .The new mating flange to match the ones on the headers was put on then welded back together.
The stock socket fit the ball on the header just fine. We cut the y-pipe at the pre-cat, have to shorten it anyway since the collector hangs down at least 3" below where the stock flange did, and removed the stock three bolt flange and added the two bolt flange before welding the pipe back at the pre-cat. It's a tight leak free fit. If he does decide to produce these I'm sure he'll add a kit to make the swap as easy as possible, as he does the ThirdGen headers.
I have one question that I would like your guy's input on. Do you think it would be better to add the O2 bung on the header collector instead of at the stock location? The sensor would work better at the header collector but take a little away from the stock look. What do you think?

Not everyone has a lift, a welder handy or the mechanical abilty to pull this off. You could tell'em to sell an already modified "y" pipe (with or without pre cats) to go with these headers...you know like you said a kit (a true bolt on kit ).

I didn't think of that. All custom exhaust work I've had done I've paid someone to do, but what you say makes sense. I guess it would cost a little more for a modified y-pipe than to pay a welder, but some who prefer to do their own work would probably be o.k. with that.
I've dropped my exhaust several times in the driveway using ramps and it's hard, but not too difficult. Shipping would be expensive though.
You should see what it cost me to have all this done.

If you put the 02 in the collector it would make it easier to cut the Y pipe. Then you could put the new flange on and connect the two pieces of the y pipe with a coupling available at any auto parts store .no welding needed.removing the exhaust from these cars is pretty easy with a jack an jack stands

Reason: add info

Don suggested that very thing. If we add the bung to the collector on the second set I can still use the bung on the y-pipe for a wide band, so no real loss. How about if they came with slip fit elbows with flanges? Cut the y-pipe and slip on the new socket and flange assembly?
The second set will be made tomorrow, Don will add the bung and air pipes, then they're off to get ceramic coated. I should have them back by next weekend.
The set on my car now will come off and go through the same process before going to their new owner.
Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. I had ignition problems on the Dyno and couldn't get the analyzer to pick up a complete run. My rpm's looked like a heart beat monitor display, only faster. What is strange is that my gauge doesnt flutter, but both the analyzer and laptop did. I will be going back after Thanksgiving.
I pulled the cap and coil yesterday and there was evidence of arcing in the cap. I then found the coil ground wire barely hanging together and it also looked like it was arcing. My spark plug wires were ohming at 9,000 ohms and up. I replaced the coil and wires and checked all the engine grounds. She seems to accelerate smoother, but that just might be my imagination.

Corvette 40 this is my problem I have with my headers. Do you think Dyno Dons headers will remedy the problem. I have straight plugs.
They should clear the plugs fine. As soon as we get the second set back, should be tomorrow, we'll mock them up on a straight plug motor we have on a stand in the shop and snap a pic.
May I suggest a 3 bolt flange alternative? I think most of the years are 3 bolts and it probably is a better sealing design. It would be a shame to buy a brand new Y-pipe with no cats and have to hack it up to put a different flange on it and create another possible leak point.
