Default Paperclip method for a '93..

Is Checking codes on a '93 the same as for later years?...I know for 94 and up you check with Pin # 4 and #12 with a 16 pin system.
My '93 has an OBDI 12 Pin system. Do I check for codes with the #4 and #12 pins when using the paperclip method, or something different?
This is my first time trying this so I am just curious...
Man, My '78 L-82/4 speed car is so much easier to work on than this '93
Thanks!

The A + B thing didn't work for me.
All I got was a clicking noise on the right side of the dash and my cooling fans came on....No codes...

Sorry but you are just as wrong as "rodj". I have a 93 and have performed the A to G method hundreds of times. I also have a factory service manual for a 93 and it says A to G. Guys if you don't know what your talking about then don't cause confusion for others.

I just had to see it one more time "you are wrong" to make me go out and find the info again.
