As an 84 owner I take exception to you saying an 84 is a piece of s**T.. It may be the lowest HP C4 but is still a quality corvette and as such deserves a little more respect, especially from a NOOB!!

i.m also an 84 owner. and if left in stock configuration it is a great running ,handling, dependable vett.ours is 100% stock.no its not a daily driver, but we have had it four over 4 yrs. after original repairs and restoration only problem has been the battery. other vett owners don't care for the 84 because of the low h.p..and when first out and people started playing with them to increase h.p.,not knowing much about the crossfire, hence problem after problem. my advice, get a factory service manual and set the motor up to factory specs. .if its never been done? (you don't know) rebuild throttle bodies.just a few gaskets pressure reg. and injectors. be sure i.a.c.is working properly.biggest problem is dirty. hopefully yours hasn't been ( as frizz put it) bubified to bad. also check and replace vacumn lines, cracks and soft lines that suck closed. welcome to the 84 club. fix it work on it and enjoy it.
Ok, that may have been abit harsh. But my reference was more about the value of the trade not the 84. I am a lover of all things corvette so I apologize for that remark. But I am also a lover of all things harley and think that if you give up a bike you can do better than a bottom shelf C4.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just realize there are tactless ***** in every bunch.
What about all those 70s vettes? Most of them made between 1975-1981 where from 165-185 hp. 0-60 in 8.5 seconds. I'd say the early c4 brought performance back in a big way.

The 75-81 vettes just look damn good. They defenately attract attention. They look so good they don't need to be fast but a few mods and they can be awsome.
you made the right choice let us know what you wind up with
Well I am back lol. I did wind up trading my Harley. That Harley was nice but had very high miles, eagle graphics on the tank that most did not like and it needed plenty of work to make it right. I very seldom rode it as I always opted for the bagger. So with all that I tried to keep an open mind knowing it wasn't worth as much as I had hoped.
I wound up getting a fairly nice 94 convertible with only 61k miles on it. White with red interior. The down side is it had been in a fender bender and the airbags deployed so it now has a rebuilt title. The car runs and drives excellent but needs a little cosmetic work. The owner that had the car before the guy I traded with said there was no frame damage but I am taking it to a corvette specialty shop Thursday morning for a good inspection just so I know what I have got. If it comes out ok I will start putting a little money into it. If not it is still a fun car to kick around in.

Don't worry about the fender bender as long as the repair was done RIGHT! (Unless you are looking at it as some investment.) It's a VETTE! Drive it! Enjoy it! That's what it's made for! (In my own humble opinion.)
