I have bought three heavy durable floor jacks, first one is 35 years old or more. Bought two more 15 years ago, quick lift on first pump. Gave one to my son for Christmas. Keep telling him to read the owners information, when stored leave the handle in the down position.
well....guess I'm like your son, didn't read the instructions and have always left the handle upright on the one I have now, it's about 15 years old....bought at Advance Auto, FYI, just picked up a 2 ton from HF...3 1/2 pumps to full height, got this one,, http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...ump-68050.html
I believe it will work on my Vette just fine.....

Get a floor jack with at least a 3 ton capacity, the lightest weight(your back & body will thank you),& one with the best warranty cause they WILL leak & cost almost as much as a new one to get repaired, unless repairing yourself.Lastly, buy a quality one because your life may depend on it.Don't want your wife to find you dead under your vette because you were cheap & bought a china made piece to save a few bucks
i want to sell your wife some more life insurance for you, if your climbing underyour car without jackstands.GUYS, DO NOT CRAWL UNDER YOUR CAR WITH A FLOOR JACK ONLY; THERE DESIGNED TO LIFT A CAR NOT TO SUPPORT IT. a friend is in a wheel chair bcause of a floorjack, tolazy to grab the jack stands to just wipe down his oil pan.: smash::cra zy2::cra zy2:
My Craftsman jack that I bought in 2004 is, of course, Made in China. The 'one pump' feature lasted about a year, and no longer works. I bleed the air out of the jack regularly and it's full of oil.....just crap quality. You may as well buy your jacks at Harbor Freight....I'm convinced they're all made in the same factory in Red China.

You'd think that would be common sense, but I see it all the time. ANY jack, I don't care how well it's made, can let go at any time.
I got one of those aluminum low-profile racing jacks from Sears a couple years ago, and it was pure junk!!! It was a dangerous leaky mess after a few uses.
I've had a 3 ton craftsman floor jack for a couple years now. Still works fine. My only complaint is the release valve. Sometimes it drops very quickly, not good when you need to slowly lower it.
How do you like the HF jack and ramps....any info appreciated.

I love it,it's the same as there more expensive rapid pump low profile aluminum jack (of the same dimensions),at first i thought i just had to have the aluminum one because of the weight difference but i came to my senses and realized you shouldn't have to pickup a jack very often anyway, and as i mentioned for the price of the jack and the ramps you can't go wrong,i did a lot of shopping around and found this was the best bang for the buck.
Bought the aluminum low profile one from Harbor Frieght 4 yrs ago it was their largest one they had.
Was skeptical at first but have used the hell out of it with no leaks no issues. If it crapped out tomorrow I wouldnt complain.
Absolutely on jackstands!!
Had a car come down on me yrs ago and was using a lot stronger jack than that. Thank god there were people in the shop or Id have been dead. It was close!
Not a fun feeling being crushed by a car and you cant breathe or yell for help
I bought 2 of the harbor freight aluminum jacks. I have had them for a couple of years and they have worked well. I got the aluminum ones that are low enough to go under a C5. They are light and the have been pretty good. I was also impressed with the fit and finish and appearance of the jack. They really are pretty nice.
I got ones before they changed to the "quick lift" or "rapid pump" so it takes several pumps to get it up to touch the car. I actually like that better since I like to go slow and make sure I have the jack positioned where I want it before I start lifting.
