Default Life after headers....

I ordered a set of American Racing headers with cats for my 94 and wondered what my next step should be for a little more performance. Ported air intake? Roller rockers and springs? All i have done to it so far is new plugs and wires and i added an SLP tri filter air filter system and had it tuned by lt1pcmtuning. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

If its automatic, 2800 stall converter. If its a stick, rear gears.

Vigilante has a good rep. Expensive though.

You will notice a stall.I would recommend doing a shift improver kit(use stage one-or first stage of improvement for a street car)and an auxillary trans cooler to ward off heat.

Roller rockers and springs will give a few ponies on the top end.

Really no need for intake porting or a larger throttle body.

Replacing the stock resonator with an x-pipe will give it a few ponies and a cool sound.

Make sure your tune is spot on after any mods.

Depending on what gear you have a change to 3.45/3.54 will wake it up and also allow you to pass fewer gas pumps.

Past these you have to jump to a cam and/or heads for noticeable power. This would be the time to do springs and 1.6 rockers IMO.

An electric water pump is worth a .10 at the strip but I would save it for after a cam install when it is removed if done at all.

What ratio on the rear end? If it is the stock 2.59 that will definitely slow down the performance.

+3 for the Pete Kane converter. Pete is a stand up guy. No worries dealing with him at all.

Good thread as I am in a similar place.

Car is at a local shop right now getting a complete Stainless Works install.
Long tube headers (Jet Hot coated), cat delete, x-pipe, and chambered mufflers.
Mine is also an automatic.

Motor is otherwise stock and a cruiser, not a racer.
But of course, I think we'd all like a little more performance.

I have the build sheet from the National Corvette Museum that contains all the codes.
There is a line item that states, *GM1 2.59 RATIO AX so my guess is those are my rear gears.
Can anyone confirm?

Thinking a cam swap might be down the road as well... Something a bit lumpier maybe.
scottermis, I will be interested to hear how you (and others) wake up a stock LT1.

I have a Circle D 2800, IMO it is right up there with Vigilante and a lot cheaper. Sometimes we spend over what we have to and the results are the same for us non-pro racers.

I also went with a Vigilante.

The right cam would also make a noticeable difference.
