I'm pretty sure the '61 didn't come w/a 30/30 cammed 327. Nor can I image that one went 123 in the 1/4 -that takes about 500 (net) hp. What ever the case, your car wasn't stock so not relevant here, really.

I looked it up; auto '61 topped out at 109, 315 hp/4 speed would go 128 according to R&T...so I was in the ball park. 300hp in the C4 will get you to 165 or so, so my point still stands. Not to mention the "joy" of driving down the highway at 3500 RPM.

Why do you like these parts the best? Or what didn't you like about the others?

Thanks.
I started my modding with just Crane 1.6 rr's and LT4 valve springs. This was going to be as far as I would go. Ended up with fully ported heads with dual valve springs running a Com Cams most agressive cam lobes. Looking back I should have over built at first to save money in the future.

Once the mod bug strikes it's hard to stop.

There is no question that late model equipment since about 1985 when CNC machining became the norm at GM/Tonawanda is light years ahead of what we had in the '60's. But the memories of going to the local Chevy dealer and buying a Duntov 30-30 cam and solid lifters for $37.00 and sliding it into a stock 327/350 and listening to the awesome lope from long duration and ssshhh from the lifters was intoxicating indeed!
