I just took my 1994 coupe out of winter storage. When I backed it out of the garage I turned the radio on. The power antenna went up but all I had on the radio was static. At first I thought I may have had the receiver set to AM and that was causing the static. However that was not the case. All I get on the radio is static no matter what band I am on. I thought perhaps the cable might have fallen off the power antenna but without pulling the rear wheel and inner fender I cant see it. The you tube video I watched did'nt seem to show the antenna cable as being able to fall off. Anyway, can anyone give me an idea where to look first. I would rather not have to pull the radio out of the dash if its just an antenna problem. If anyone else has had a similar problem I would appreciate any help you can give, Thanks...Frank
First try a CD or tape and see if it plays. If it does, I don’t think pulling the head will gain you anything at a start point. I would look at the connections at the CDM unit behind the passenger seat. That is where the antenna connects and the signals are processed.
You may need to check out the antenna wire at the rear. Leave the radio on and give it a wiggle and tug. You might need to tap the CDM and see if any radio audio pops in.
Thanks for your reply. My plan was to check the CD player first also to see if it plays. I'm on the road at the moment and havent found anyone with an old cassette tape yet....lol I know I have a ton of them at home and will certainly do that first. Then on to the antenna connection. Hopefully that will be the problem. The antenna has'nt been working well lately since it got bent and wont go all the way down so maybe its an internal problem as well. I totally appreciate your advise

Check all the radio fuses just to make sure.
Well I am home now and tried a cassette and it played fine, I pulled both connections off the CDM unit and tapped it a few times but nothing changed. I did notice that when I turn the radio on, it takes a few seconds for the static to start. Almost like an old vacuum tube radio that has to heat up. I wonder if the problem is with the CDM unit? I will jack the car up and pull the rear wheel next to get at the antenna and see if that has any effect
