Default First Corvette.. need some help

I recently just bought an 85 Corvette and I love the car! However, it has a few minor issues, primarily with the A/C system (manual system). There seems to be a lack of airflow which I assume can be credited to a clogged evaporator which I will work on cleaning out. Next, all the time my air is directed out of all the vents (floor, mid level, and defrost) even if it is on the defrost setting (I'm guessing a vacuum issue but I don't know where to start on that and can use advice). Thanks in advance!

You have to verify getting vacuum to the control head. Lack of vacuum will cause the system to go into default mode...which will cause the air to come out on the floor and defrost.

There is a small special check valve that has the hose from the interior HVAC system connected to it. IF this check valve is bad or missing and some has installed a vacuum"T" fitting...there is past of your problem.

The black plastic round vacuum ball in front of your drivers side front tire is the storage container for your vacuum system. Follow the hose back from it and it will "T" into your cruise control...and keep following the hose and that is where you will find the check valve.

If I am not mistaken...the hard black plastic tubing for your HVAC system comes out of the firewall behind the passenger valve cover and it may route down by the starter and then come back up to the area by your wiper motor. I have had the hard plastic tubing being burnt or broken by the starter before.

To expand on what DUB posted...

The most likely suspect is the vacuum check valve, located next to the distributor on the driver's side ($4 at any auto parts store):

You have to check the valve but my fan resistor was only blowing full on or off, I just cleaned the connectors and the fan works properly now.

Yup, same issue on my '93 yesterday. Mine wasn't connected though.
