Code 36?
I know this has been beaten to death, but I didn't see anything in regards to it in the last year so I figure I ask again...
So I got the Dreaded Code 36 in my 1992 6 Speed (62k miles) this morning on the way to and from Cars and Coffee here in Indy. I'm Pretty positive it's my Opti, but the searches Iv'e done on the forum have had lots of conflicting info on which is the best Opti to get.
Lots of folks have said get the AC Delco opti, but to vent it. Seems reasonable to me, but I can't seem to find the kit to vent it. Anyone have a link? Is this really the best option?
I've seen lots of folks really rave about MSD Opti's, or Petris Opti's, but then later they are totally bashed by others over a certain time period. Some never have problems, and others seem to have nothing but problems! Not sure if those are still bad options? I'd like to get a Vented Opti for sure, especially if one is made of much better components but having seen people rave about one brand for a while and then say they are terrible, and then rave about another, and then say they are terrible. What really is the best option?
Again car is a 92 6 Speed with 62k Miles, PO changed the Opti in 2009 or so with an AC Delco. Am planning on replacing the Water pump, Plugs, and Wires while I"m in there.

I know the later design Opti-spark is vented. And by simply changing out the distributor cap with one that has the port for a hose to be attached is one thing...BUT I would have to look at a many of my old Opti-sparks distributors and see how easy/hard it would be to modify the aluminum housing. Because you have to have an 'air in' port and an 'air out' port so you have air circulation.
