Just an update, i finally got the car running after pretty much walking away from it. The distributor was off. I must have stabbed that thing 50 times in every possible orientation. Idk how it took so long to get it right. Anyway i guess from all the new parts the car was running AMAZING i couldnt beleive it. but i got 5 minutes from my house And it chewed the belt into a million peices. I have no idea why. So now its sitting again because if i go near it i will set it on fire.

Octaneforce, let me point a couple of thoughts:

1) seems your dizzy was off at the end,i adviced you to ceck this before any attempt to put new parts and efforts over this car (timing chain i.e)

2) throwing parts never pay untill you are a "stealership" they did it as job....

But if i remember, you were in need of a new WP, so changin' a timing chain, in an old engine, is still good .

All your efforts in changing parts made grovin' your frustration, but now engine problem is solved and it was a stupid oversight about a common mistake, the dizzy,as you said ,was simply off.

Now, onto the service belt, may be you put it the wrong way in,or it was not well aligned onto the belt pulleys threads and it simply slipped out, and was chewed.Belive me most of us ,at least one time, were near to set the baby on fire,or hammerin'it to death....but ,take a breath ,let it sit for some days, then turn back put in a new belt,be sure it is routed ,tensioned and well aligned ...and you'r in business she's on the road again...problem solved...

Thanks for the therapeutic words lol. I think it was definitely worth the extra parts and the experience. The motor sounds a whole lot quieter with the new timing set. And i couldnt get it to overheat in the breif beating i gave it either, so the heavy duty water pump is doing its job. As for the belt im hoping i just skipped a rib somewhere. My other fear is that something is jammed under the crank pulley. That pulley is like a centimeter away from the cross member, or whatevers down there.
