Yup, now it's a fact !!!
Blew my engine yesterday on the strip!!
Sprayed as usual and suddenly it all went bad, started with that so feared missfiring sound and then the power dissapeared totaly.
Shutting down the engine I could listen to the scary sound of metal rattle. So, no worrys about spending time on the beach for a while. I suspect, at least, broken valves, pushrods and piston. Maybe now it's a good time to replace some other stuff too ?? Anyway, all has to come out.
Do you have an automatic or stick? Full throttle switch, window switch?
What was your chip doing to your timing/fuel? 150 shot is pushing it as you know. Sorry to hear the bad news..

Auto, WOT, retarded timing by 7 degres. Fuel pressure high enough.
I have been spraying through a few bottles without any problems. Maybe I got some really bad gas, who knows ??
Anyway, I'll keep you posted about the damage done as soon I pull the engine (starting on tuesday eve.).
If it's really messed up bad I'll go for the 383, miniram and a nice Lingerfelter :yesnod:
7 degrees seems high. What is your chip doing?? :smash:
OK for the retard, I agree that 6 deg. should be better ( 2 deg per 50 hp = 6) just keeping it a little over the top.
Actually I'm not too sure about the chip. The guy that programmed it told me that it would be good for 150 shots with the sig mods
I'm still leaning on the bad gasoline issue. Never bought any soup from this particular gas chain before  And when I do buy, BOOM !! :mad
A 150 shot is too much for straight pump gas. I run 30-50% race gas or 20-30% Toluene when I juice now. Regular plug inspections are mandetory too.
Do you use the mix only when you are spraying, if not, how does the engine cope with this fuel mix.
What about the injectors, do they get enough of lubrication
What about the eprom, any suggestions ?
Toluene is already a major component in gasoline. Adding a few gallons (20-30%) will not harm your engine at all. In fact, it is an excellent injector cleaner. The best part is Toluene is 114 octane.
I don't add any lubricants or cleaners to the mix though. I figure there are already the necessary additives in the pump gas. I run cats and I'm afraid that marvel mystery oil and/or tranny fluid might foul them up. I don't know for sure. I've run a lot of straight Toluene with no problems though.
Just came home from the shop.
Pulled the heads and had a brief look on the damage and felt kinda dizzy.
4 pistons gone bye bye, pushrods looks like serpentines and too many valves broken, and thats just for starters, heaven knows what the bottom end looks like.
I'm gonna get drunk now and throw out my tv set or something....
Well, pulled the engine out and now tearing it apart.
Any good ideas on what kind of pistons I should use that can handle my setup ??
Actually it looks like the only damage made is some broken pistons (completely hollow now) and some broken valves. Fortunately the bottom end looks to be undamaged and no scratches in the cylinders....
I really don't want this to happen again so I need some kind of reinforced pistons and rings and probably i'll go for stronger valves to...'
Comments please......
