Hey guys,

For a 1995 LT1 manual coupe, what is the grade and weight of:

Differential oil
ZF 6 Speed trans

Any upgrades from stock you might suggest?

Thanks!

Don't apologize! Sometimes using the search function can be an exercise in frustration. Here are links to a couple of more recent threads regarding the ZF6 trans that may be of help to you -

As for the rear gear oil, 75W-90, can be used and most of the aftermarket manufacturers make this grade in conventional and synthetic. Don't forget to add a bottle of posi additive.

If you want to use factory recommended fluids, here's a link to AC Delco site where you can input your make, model and year to see recommended oils -

I found these doing a search, so I know it does work.
It can be frustrating though, until you get used to it.

Hey guys, I just called my chevy dealer and asked if he had posi additive. He said to use it only if I ran mineral oïl. Don't need it if I run Synthetic. What is the story on this?

What are you gurus saying on that?

Shoot Brad an email:

http://www.c66racing-synthetics.com/Contactus.htm

Order a couple quarts of this:

https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...ont%2fsvg.aspx

It already has the friction modifiers in it. Good to go!

As for the ZF6, I have been running Amsoil in mine for the last 30k miles with nothing bad to say about it. I am going to try Pennzoil synchromesh this time around since it is available locally and a lot less money. I have heard good things about it as well. My plan is to change the ZF oil once a year at the same time I do my engine oil.

Thanks Torch! I found a couple of local amsoil dealers locally. Will give this stuff a go as well as for the Amsoil syncromesh 5W30 stuff.

So NO posi additive with the Amsoil severe duty??? You sure? LOL

This sounds like a cheap insurance Policy... http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...?code=ADATB-EA eventghough they write that Amsoil synth lube doesn't require it, it says it will do away with chatter on sound diffs. And mine being 20 years Young.... your thoughts?

100%

Brad uses it in his race car and his daily driver CTS-V. I have had it in my Dana 44 going on 2 years now. No issues.

Thanks man. That's the kind of hands on experience that inpires! Sold!

I've been driving on race tracks for over 20 yrs and I know some stuff, but Corvettes seem to have a particular thing about them from what I've discovered so far. I come from the dark side of the force and German wheels.... don't hold it agains me! LOL

Thanks again guys.
